Like as much as I love what I wrote here, it's totally 100% irrelevant to the character development I've put in since I wrote it. Every piece of backstory listed here is more or less no longer true to the tale, and as such this is gonna be a placeholder brick-o-text until I flesh out everything I've changed with everyone.
Galax is old. Very, very old. In years alone, he's just over two thousand. He has seen from the eyes of men, women, and programs. He has traversed reality as a budding legend, yet he is a legend never born. He has lived, and loved...and he has lost. Galax has lost much. To use his own words, "I have the bloodiest hands in Human history."

Galax is wracked with guilt over every death he has caused. To be entirely fair, he has caused many. Whether or not his hands truly are the bloodiest in Human history remains to be seen, because in all honesty...who is going to be the one that makes the kill count? Who would dare to tally it up? Galax refuses to do it, and he's the only one living who could give you a full record.

Going through life, Galax was...unusual. Quiet and reserved when other children were loud and boisterous. He studied quietly, then left the house to observe children at play. Silently watching, analyzing, learning. Anyone who knew him assumed him mute.

The first day Galax spoke, it was still not with words. Seventeen at the time, Galax was witness to an attempted mugging and murder. Unable to stand idly by and watch a man die, he walked in to battle. Unlike an eager young hero, Galax did not run. There was no rush. He had already calculated the arc of the knife, the hesitation of the killer, and the gaze of the victim. He was aware that he had time to walk.

So he walked. His steel-toed boots echoed on the pavement as he entered the alleyway. His odd choice on clothing - even then, Galax wore robes - fluttered lightly in the breeze. By this time, standing six foot two - as tall as he would ever be in life - Galax looked in to the eyes of the would-be killer. Without a word, Galax disarmed his opponent. In one swift motion, Galax slid forward, reached out with his left hand, and twisted the man's wrist. With his other hand, he delivered a punishing blow to his stomach, then finished his target by stamping, hard, on his foot, and shoving him away...without releasing the clamp from the stomp, forcing him to twist and fall awkwardly.

After that, the man passed out. Galax heaved him on to his shoulders, and took him to the hospital.

Galax later learned that the man he attacked had a name. A name that didn't show up in any database. It was the first test set before him by the Thirteenth Lord.  Galax also learned that he had broken two of the man's ribs, his right ankle, and fractured his wrist. Thirteen never stood trial for his assault.

This, above all, is what drove Galax to accept the orders sent to him. President Laia had tried, many times, to herd him back in to active duty. Always with the words "ordered to go" and "rally" and "muster at." Always trying, always. He knew how badly he was needed on the front lines.

But Galax couldn't...not anymore. Nobody actually told him much of anything about the mission to Castle Lololo. He drew on his own power to see why he should bother...and what he saw sickened him.

Innocents had to fight their supposed saviors to regain basic rights. It was the exact sort of empire that he, himself, had ended. He tapped deeper, and drew up the War History of the realm in question. With the images of the Lololo Wars before him, Galax resolved to fight in the Fourth Lololo War

Actions Within Game

So far, Galax has spoken mostly with his fists and feet, earning the Fisticuffs and Low Sweep skills; He has, however, spoken openly to his foes on a few occasions, and has been seen to try and defend allies from incoming damage when they're weak, opting to cover the most damaged when a chance arises. He has also tried to unlock the sealed magic within and set it in to alignment with the Mana all around and within them.

History

   Forms

  • Galax is a name commonly used by his creator throughout his gaming career. He chose to represent this by incorporating some of them in to his backstory:
  •   -Phantasy Star
  •   --Introduction. GUARDIANs HQ, Alliance Military Force, Maidens of Light via Communion of Gurhal. GUARDIANs are a Government system, encompassing Police, Investigators, Research & Development, among other things. The AMF is the true military force of the Gurhal system, while the Communion of Gurhal is a religious order - the most powerful maidens become Maidens of Light, which are akin to Priests. The highest of the Maidens of Light becomes their leader, the Divine Maiden, effective ruler of the Communion of Gurhal, and the public face thereof. The Hunters Guild mentioned in his creator's first post in Attack on Lololo can be viewed as a sort of forerunner of the GUARDIANs - the main difference being, the Hunter's Guild was just a police force, while the GUARDIANs are a full on government system. Both, however, had a President at the head - President Tyrell of the Hunters Guild, and President Obel Dallgun of the GUARDIANs. Obel was later succeeded by his adopted daughter, Laia Martinez, when he was killed in the war against the SEED - one of the few things Galax will be likely to fear.
  •   -Boktai
  •   --The balance issue. Embraces Dark instead of evening out with Light. Every character in this universe has to decide on this at some point or another. Django was turned vampire by his father, and had to find a way to balance the powers of the Sun and of the Dark within himself. Sabata, Django's brother, did the same, and became a Moon Beauty, a powerful entity capable of channeling Light and Darkness, potentially at the same time. Django did not become a Moon Beauty himself because of the circumstances surrounding his gaining of the Darkness-based powers wielded by Immortals.

Extra Trivia

  • The current incarnation portrayed is the most recently created, from Phantasy Star Online 2, sans that Galax is described as wearing a robe instead of the suit he wears in-game.
  • Magic in Phantasy Star is...significantly less complicated, which is where the idea of the air feeling different came from; The magic is less immediate, lending a subtle strangeness to the senses.
  • There is a linking feature Galax's creator has assigned him, something that appears on -all- of his forms; Along his left arm, from shoulder to elbow, facing outwards, is a scar that is in a perpetual state of attempting to scab over; It is constantly weeping the clear fluid that eventually becomes a scab. The wound itself is cursed twofold: First, if it ever is closed, it will open within the hour, bleeding freshly; and secondly, if Galax is struck with sufficient force along the line of the scar, just about anything can go wrong. The origin of this wound is currently known only to Galax himself, and he guards the secret of it closely; All that was ever gathered was from a Spy program that piggybacked in to the Alliance Military Force communications, picking up Galax describing his scar as "a voluntary reminder of my sins". This suggests the wound itself was self inflicted, though the Spy Prog was terminated before anything else was gleaned. The fact that there was a SpyProg that could infiltrate the AMF suggests someone either was - or still is - very interested in the nature of this wound. However, nobody has really made much of an effort to trace back to the sender of the SpyProg, as Fulyen Curtz himself, commander of the Alliance Military Force, deemed it nothing but a curiosity to be dissected, so that they could defend against further unwanted intrusions.
